  2. 2020 edition of Superyacht Cup Palma cancelled in response to pandemic

    Organisers of the Superyacht Cup Palma have cancelled the 2020 regatta scheduled for 17-20 June due to the ongoing global coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic and in line with recommendations from the Spanish and Balearic Governments.
    “This ongoing global crisis has made planning for the event impossible and so we have taken the difficult but necessary decision to cancel this year’s event. We urge everyone to stay safe and we look forward to welcoming the superyacht fleet back to Palma in 2021 for what will be the 25th anniversary of Europe’s longest-running superyacht regatta,” said event director, Kate Branagh.
    The provisional dates for the 25th anniversary edition are 23-26 June 2021.

  3. Cancellation of 2020 Trofeo Princesa Sofía Iberostar

    The Organizing Committee announces the cancellation of the 2020 Trofeo Princesa Sofía Iberostar due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and following recommendations from the Spanish and Balearic Governments. This affects all classes (Olympic classes, One-Design, Open Foil and ORC).

  4. GC32 OMAN CUP CANCELLED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS

    Due to ongoing concerns about the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and following recommendations from Oman’s Ministry of Health, the opening event of the 2020 GC32 Racing Tour in Muscat has been cancelled.

    On 7 March 2020, Oman’s Ministry of Health released a directive, calling for all international events and conferences within the Sultanate to be suspended or postponed until further notice.

    As a result, GC32 Oman Cup organiser Oman Sail and GC32 Racing Tour officials decided it was in the best interest to cancel the six-team event which was due to begin on Wednesday 25 March.

    “We are of course disappointed as we were looking forward to returning to race in Oman to open this year’s Tour. The health and safety of our sailors, staff, and spectators are our top priority and while difficult, this is the right decision,” says Christian Scherrer, Manager of the GC32 Racing Tour.

    The GC32 Racing Tour management is presently in discussion with the teams and local event organisers with the aim of working around the international health crisis to establish how the five event circuit for the ultra-fast flying catamarans can work most successfully for the rest of the 2020 season.

  5. YARE POSTPONED FROM 4 TO 6 NOVEMBER 2020

    In light of the developments in the international situation regarding the COVID-19 virus, the Management Board of the organizing company NAVIGO centre for innovation and development of the nautical sector- held a meeting for an evaluation and monitoring of the situation regarding Yare (Yachting Afersales and Refit Experience), the international event of the yachting industry scheduled for the coming weeks in Viareggio.

    Tuscany remains a completely safe area for business and tourist travel and the authorities has managed protocols and actions that have been reported among the best in Italy also by medical and scientific institutions.

    As a business event with a strong international participation, Yare involves Companies, Stakeholders and Superyacht Captains, 60% coming from abroad.

    The high participation of foreign companies and people in the program of events prompted us to meet their needs and their inability to travel due to the restrictions of airlines and foreign authorities.

    The decision taken by the management board is to postpone the tenth edition of YARE from 4 to 6 November 2020,
